3 Legged Thing has launched a new entry-level carbon fibre tripod, introducing the Punks Billy.

The Punks Billy inherits many of the features from 3 Legged Thing’s Equinox & Eclipse range of tripods, which includes eight layers of 100% pure pre-preg carbon fibre legs and centre column.

The Punks Billy also offers a detachable monopod leg – which can also be used as a microphone or camera boom – multiple mounting points, bubble-grips and 3LT’s Tri-Mount plate that offers three hollowed spurs for accessory attachments.

The Punks Billy’s legs counterfold around the centre column, allowing you to pack it down to 46cm. Meanwhile, in use the Punks Billy can reach two working heights: with the centre column installed the Punks Billy tops out at 1.645m / 65in high; without the column the Punks Billy reaches 1.37m / 53.5in.

You can also fold the Punks Billy down flat against the ground at a working height of 10cm / 4in for macro photography.

3 Legged Thing says the carbon fibre Punks Billy weighs just 1.38kg, or 3lb. Meanwhile, it can withstand a payload of 18kg, or 13x its weight.

Other features include detachable feet. Punks Billy price isn’t available at the time of writing, but we’ll update this post when we get this information.
