SmallRig’s latest addition is the CINE 4 x 5.65″ ND Filters. These are incredibly useful for anyone shooting video on the DSLR or Mirrorless camera system, which, unlike most camcorders, don’t have built-in NDs. Each filter is a standard size and will fit the SmallRig Star-Trail System Matte Box that we looked at earlier in the year.

The filter set features seven different densities, ranging from ND2 (0.3) to ND128 (2.1), corresponding to a light transmittance range of 0.78% to 50%. This variation provides you with precise control over the light passing through the lens, allowing up to a 7-stop light reduction. Such control is crucial for managing exposure in varying lighting conditions, particularly beneficial for creating depth and focus and adhering to the 180º Shutter rule.

Made from high-clarity, high-transmission B270 optical glass from Germany, these filters are designed for less colour cast and high-accuracy colour reproduction. This quality ensures that the captured colours are true to life, a vital aspect for professionals engaged in colour grading and image correction.

Ensuring durability, these filters feature a double-sided multi-layer nano-coating, making them waterproof, oil-resistant, and anti-scratch.

In terms of dimensions, the filters measure 143.45 x 101.55 x 4.0mm and weigh approximately 147.0g, making them a portable and practical addition to any photographer’s kit. Their compatibility with a 4 x 5.65″ filter tray or matte box makes them versatile for use with various camera and Matte Box setups.
